Charcoal Drawings

I particularly enjoy using charcoal as a drawing medium. It encourages a free, expressive style and it can be smeared and smudged to produce moody, atmospheric effects and then layered with the intense black of compressed charcoal. My fascination with charcoal stems back to childhood memories of my father ‘magically’ creating his own willow charcoal for drawing.
